Team of Stars: A Playful Display Font for Creative Branding Projects

It was a quiet Monday morning, and I was staring at a blank brand board for a new client—a small, family-run bakery that wanted a fresh identity to match their warm, whimsical vibe. I had the color palette picked out and a few logo sketches sketched in my notebook, but something was missing. Typography often holds the key to a brand’s personality, and I needed a font that could carry that playful, handmade charm without looking too cartoonish or unprofessional. That’s when I remembered Team of Stars.

Team of Stars is a fun and cute display font that immediately caught my eye when I first browsed through my font library. It has a slightly bouncy baseline and rounded edges that give it a soft, approachable feel. The letterforms are bold and confident without being overwhelming, making it perfect for headlines, logos, and other attention-grabbing design elements. It’s the kind of font that can instantly inject personality into a project, and I was curious to see how it would translate into a real-world branding scenario.

Testing the Font in a Real Branding Mockup

I opened my design software and dropped Team of Stars into the logo draft. I typed out the bakery’s name and adjusted the tracking to give it some breathing room. The result? Instant charm. The font gave the logo a friendly, hand-drawn quality that felt authentic and inviting. I tried a few variations—uppercase, lowercase, different color combinations—and each one felt like it could live on a storefront window or a cupcake box without looking out of place.

Next, I tested it in a few other brand touchpoints. I placed it on a mockup of a business card, imagining how it would look printed on textured paper with a soft matte finish. Then I tried it on a social media graphic for the bakery’s Instagram feed. The contrast between the clean background and the lively letterforms made the text pop in a way that felt both modern and handmade. It was clear that Team of Stars wasn’t just a one-trick pony—it had the versatility to work across different mediums while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

Using Team of Stars Across Brand Materials

As the project progressed, I found more and more ways to incorporate Team of Stars into the brand system. We used it as the primary logo typeface, of course, but also as the headline font on printed flyers and packaging labels. It worked beautifully on the bakery’s website too—especially in the hero section where we wanted to highlight their tagline with a bit of visual flair.

One of the most effective uses was on their product labels. The bakery made custom cookie boxes and jam jars, and having a font that felt both professional and personable was key. Team of Stars struck that perfect balance. It was readable at a glance, yet had enough character to make the packaging feel unique and memorable. I even used it in a small accent on thank-you cards and invoice templates, where a touch of personality can make a big impression.

Pairing Team of Stars With Other Fonts

While Team of Stars shines as a display font, I knew it wouldn’t be practical for longer blocks of text. So I paired it with a clean sans serif for body copy and supporting information. The contrast between the playful headline font and the minimalist supporting typeface created a strong visual hierarchy that guided the viewer’s eye naturally through the design.

I also experimented with using a soft script font for secondary accents—like on handwritten-style tags or special event announcements. The combination felt cohesive and intentional, not chaotic. The key was maintaining balance: letting Team of Stars take center stage while supporting it with more neutral, legible fonts in the background.

What to Consider Before Using Team of Stars in Client Work

If you’re thinking of using Team of Stars in your own design projects, here are a few things I learned along the way:

Team of Stars comes in a standard format with solid multilingual support, which made it easy to implement across different design files. I also appreciated that it rendered cleanly across browsers and print outputs, which is always a concern when working with display fonts.

Final Thoughts: A Designer’s New Go-To Display Font

By the time the bakery’s brand launched, I was convinced that Team of Stars had been the right choice. It brought a sense of joy and approachability to the brand without sacrificing professionalism. It was a reminder that typography doesn’t always have to be serious to be effective. Sometimes, the right font can be the difference between a good design and a great one.

If you’re a designer, freelancer, or small business owner looking for a creative font that brings personality and charm to your brand materials, Team of Stars is definitely worth a try. Whether you're designing a logo, packaging, or digital graphics, it’s a versatile display font that adds a touch of fun to any project—without compromising on quality or usability.
